Preserving the facts while reconsidering the voices and memory of Columbine

Before getting into the possible 1998 sighting, I wanted to include two confirmed appearances of Eric Harris from Columbine yearbooks for comparison. The first image shows Eric during free hour in the cafeteria, clearly identified by caption in the yearbook itself. The second is his official junior year portrait.

Once I got my hands on the scan I began looking through the 1998 yearbook afterward, I noticed a student in the background who strongly resembles Eric Harris. You can find it on page 17.

What initially stood out was the apparent KMFDM hat from the back. You can spot it yourself in the top right corner.

Despite the grainy picture and the fact it is in motion, the figure on the far right seems to be wearing what looks like a KMFDM hat, similar or same as the one he wore. The male also appears to have similar hair cut and color, at least from what we can see.

After noticing the apparent KMFDM hat, I immediately started looking for confirmed images of Eric Harris wearing the hat from behind or at similar angles. I went through footage from Rampart Range as well as clips from Radioactive Clothing and took several stills for comparison. Starting with Radioactive Clothing, in my opinion, the similarities are noticeable.

We also have footage from Rampart Range, where Eric can be seen wearing the same KMFDM hat from multiple angles. I’ve included stills from that footage below for comparison.

Although the 1998 image remains too obscured to identify with complete certainty, the resemblance and clothing details make it an interesting possible sighting. Is this hugely important? Not really but I wanted to share my thoughts because I figured others might find it interesting as well. I’m currently in the middle of reading through the yearbooks and related material, and this was one of the first things that immediately stood out to me.
